"Coloring Book," by Chance The Rapper, first streaming exclusive to debut at No. 8 on the Billboard top 200

Who says that streaming music is not a popular way of enjoying it and making sales and history? Well, guess again.

"Coloring Book," the new album by Chicago native Chance The Rapper, is the first to debut on the chart exclusively from streams. Songs from "Coloring Book" were streamed 57.3 million times in its first week, an equivalent of 38,000 traditional album sales according to Business Insider. Nearly all of those units were generated by streams of the albums tracks via Apple Music, equating to 57.3 million streams.

Drake’s album “Views” also got helped into the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart via streaming.  Kanye West’s recently released The Life of Pablo’s units, currently on its 7th week on the chart,  are also almost entirely driven by streams.

“Coloring Book” is currently an Apple Music exclusive, but will be available on other streaming services on May 27th.

I do hope this good fortune in streaming will reach the shores of Nigeria so that our Nigerian artistes will smile to the banks too
